What can I do when I forgot the password of my memory card ?

Even if you forget your memory card password, you can still use and access the memory card in the device where the password was set. However, in the following situations you need to know the memory card password before being able to access its content:

1. After the device software update with PC (using Nokia Software Updater)
2. After a hard reset (format) of the device (for example by typing *#7370#)
3. After inserting the memory card to another device

Note that you cannot remove the memory card password either if you have forgotten it.

If you have forgotten the password but you still want to use the memory card, try formatting it in your device. For instructions on how to format the memory card, see the User Guide of your device. If the formatting process is successful, the memory card is usable but all data on the memory card is erased.

To avoid unnecessary risks, write down your password somewhere and backup your memory card data regularly.
